WoodPickER

Emilia-Romagna Region faces the challenge to integrate better forestry activities, improve land management and strengthen wood products value chain. As a response, WoodPickER analyses the feasibility of a sustainable forest management model in a pilot area of the region. The model integrates advanced sustainable forest exploitation technologies with short rotation forestry and the most profitable biomass valorization options. Engaging local stakeholders and analyzing technical, environmental and economic feasibility of the model, WoodPickER allows policy instruments (RuralDevelopmentPlan) to obtain better value-for-money, generating positive economic outputs and employment opportunities at local level, while reducing overall GHG emissions and increasing carbon sink.
