8 November | 14:30-15:30
Nordic Pavilion
This event will highlight different perspectives on how Nordic forestry innovation can cascade the use of wood in construction and other high-value products. The long-term and sustainable management of forests is considered a core-value of Nordic societies. However, the latest policy initiatives in the Nordics have been challenged by the scientific community. Under which conditions can value chains, from forest growth to wood-based products in construction, be interpreted as carbon sinks or sources?
The event will bring together scientists, economic analysts, private sector actors and policy-makers, and cast light on the sensitive aspects of the issue in order to open up for discussion on possible ways forward to use of wood in construction and other high-value products. The format of the event will be a moderated policy debate where active participation of the audience will be encouraged.
Speakers from Climate-KIC, RISE, ALTO, NTNU.
