EIT Climate-KIC Strategic Programmes Builder, Cassia Moraes will speak at a session titled: “The impact of youth-led initiatives on building fair and equitable communities” on June 21st from 11 to 12:30.
Local and regional governments increasingly recognise the critical role that young people must play in achieving ambitious climate goals through local action. Often, the systematic inclusion of young people’s voices in local and regional government processes and activities is not put into practice due to a lack of information or an unclear path to implementation. Young people have impactful actions in cities with innovative ideas and initiatives that improve community well-being, but due to a lack of knowledge or processes in local and regional governments, young people’s capabilities are not fully exploited. Therefore, it is necessary to find ways and measures through success stories, youth organizations and international cooperation opportunities to embrace and empower youth-led initiatives.
