Can we design wood buildings to support forests?
Can we design wood buildings to support forests? Taking a climate-smart forest economy approach to bio-based construction.
Join us at the first Learning Community session on achieving a climate-smart forest economy this Wednesday 9 October, co-hosted by Climate KIC and the Climate Smart Forest Economy Program.
We will explore whether bio-based construction can support forests and communities, bringing perspectives from experts on the topic as well as examples of local projects in action.
Speakers
- Jamie Lawrence (Xilva) on what is the climate-smart forest economy and how it should be designed;
- Wolf Bierens (Easy Housing) on their full-value-chain approach to wood building construction in East Africa;
- Aman Choda (Gatsby Africa) on their role in the region supporting forests, communities and built-environment projects.
About the Climate Smart Forest Economy Program
Climate KIC is a founding member and key partner of the Climate Smart Forest Economy Program (CSFEP), an evidence-based, action-oriented collaborative working toward a world where forests and forest products deliver their maximum benefits to climate, biodiversity, and prosperity. To achieve this, we are accelerating the development of circular systems of sustainably managed forests and carbon-storing buildings around the world.
