Socio-economic and environmental impacts of carbon markets in the Global South: benefit or burden?

Blue Zone, Area C, Delegations Pavilion 4, Stand P76 SEforALL | Organiser: Centro de Innovación Climática y Sostenibilidad

Climate change mitigation is one of the biggest challenges when we talk about climate action. Therefore, at COP27, one of the most discussed topics is the implementation of the so-called “Carbon Markets”. Even though this solution bring benefits, it is also seen by some critics as shifting CO2 credits from one side of the world to the other without real benefits for society.

This workshop aims to discuss with the participants, their opinions and feelings with regards to this topic considering their personal experiences, background and their current local context, in order to gain a rich and plural narrative about the topic, that contribute to better understand the current or potential impacts.
