Biogas ETC and Off4firms projects nominated for the 2015 EIT Innovators Awards

Climate-KIC is officially in the run for the EIT Innovators Awards competition that will take place in Budapest on 5-6 May.

The nominees are Climate-KIC innovation projects teams Off4firms and Biogas ETC. They satisfied to the specific eligibility criteria, among which: have successfully achieved the pre-commercialisation stage.

Off4firms – Employer led CO2 and Energy Reductions by Employees – aims at encouraging a greener lifestyle at home and at work and addresses positive climate impact by encouraging individual behavior change.

Biogas ETC – Biogas, Energising the Countryside – offers a more efficient solution to agricultural greenhouse gas emissions, acting on the development of bio-economy.

EIT Innovators Award

The EIT Innovators Award is the new category added in 2015 to the EIT Venture Award which now will expand beyond entrepreneurship and education activities. The spirit of the competition remains the same: promoting an entrepreneurial mind-set and a risk-taking culture and bring to light new green models.

The prize for the winner will be a tailored marketing package for to support further development of the solution, along with a larger European promotion and the use of the label “Innovators Award Winner 2015” in the project marketing activities. Before the final in Budapest, the nominated teams will also get the opportunity to get to know each other and to be trained on their presentation skills with a workshop around mid-march.

The performance was double for the teams competing: gather information according the specific criteria to be rated (socio-economic and climate impact, originality of the product or service, etc.) and meeting the tight deadlines. A Climate-KIC European panel of voters (excluding teams directly involved in one of the projects to be considered) with various profiles and from different sectors of activity, elected anonymously the 2 nominees.

Climate-KIC will keep supporting the Biogas and Off4firms teams until the final in May.
