News 03 May 2022

Climate KIC selected four cleantech start-ups to be part of the EIT Community Booster – Scaling Up New European Bauhaus Ventures, launched by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and five of its Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs). Each winner will receive €50,000 in support to help advance the New European Bauhaus, an environmental, social and cultural initiative that combines quality of experience (e.g. aesthetics), sustainability (e.g. circularity) and inclusiveness (e.g. accessibility and affordability) to help deliver the European Green Deal and make it more human-centred.

The EIT Community Booster – Scaling Up New European Bauhaus Ventures received 1029 applications—240 of which were for the Climate KIC New European Bauhaus ClimAccelerator programme.

The Climate KIC selected winners are: RepAir (Israel), Living Light (The Netherlands), Entropic (Spain) and Prosume (Italy).

Each start-up will receive a €25,000 prize to accelerate their growth and a tailored package of supporting services valued at €25,000. Therefore, the total grant per start-up is valued at €50,000.

RepAir

RepAir develops innovative carbon capture technologies. Its mission is to capture CO₂ from the air at Gigaton scale using its unique, ultra-low-cost solution. Inspired by battery and fuel cell principles, RepAir’s innovative electrochemical device utilises electricity to separate CO2 from the air.

Living Light

Living Light is an innovative light application. Its energy is generated through collaboration with soil microbes. Living Light inspires people to take care of nature and ensures that its hidden energy potential can be used in a planet-friendly way.

Entropic

Entropic is committed to re-imaging the built environment, in urbanism and architecture, with a focus on liveability, contemporary challenges and architectural innovation. NEST by Entropic is a solution that makes use of the abundant vertical space in cities to increase biodiversity. It is an ecological façade system which would be made through ceramic/clay 3D printing techniques. Façade panels are tailored to create specific environments that will allow the growth of plants or places to nest for desirable species of insects, birds and bats, while maintaining the high performance of the building and a healthier micro-climate.

Prosume

Prosume is a blockchain-based energy data management platform. Thanks to its own decentralised and self-regulated monitoring system, it guarantees an autonomous, independent and digitised smart place allowing users to source energy from local and green generation. Prosume promotes rapid acceleration of new energy community models.
