These EIT funds help to integrate education, research and business in Europe and are pooled with complementary funding to tackle the major societal challenges of climate change, sustainable energy and digitalisation.

Climate-KIC has been allocated 91 million euros to deliver significant impact towards Europe’s competitiveness, growth and job creation through climate innovation in 2015.

Since 2010 Climate-KIC has achieved the following:

  • helped over 800 students who worked on 100 climate change business ideas
  • 64 start-ups have collectively raised over 68 million Euros
  • Launched 5 flagship programmes connecting public and private partners across Europe

Climate-KIC runs programmes for students, start-ups and innovators in 29 European countries.

Climate-KIC is the EU’s main climate innovation initiative. It is Europe’s largest public-private innovation partnership focused on mitigating and adapting to climate change. Climate-KIC consists of companies, academic institutions and the public sector.

The EIT’s vision is to become the leading EU initiative that empowers innovators and entrepreneurs to develop world-class solutions to societal challenges, and to create sustainable growth and jobs.
