GreeMko receives Climate Reality Project Award in Spain
GreeMko (for Green Management Technology), a Spanish start-up that entered the Climate KIC Accelerator in 2020, won one of the Climate Reality Project’s “Climate Leaders Awards” in Spain with its environmental performance calculation tools.
Launched in 2019, and one of the 13 projects selected in 2020 for the seventh edition of the Climate KIC Start-up Accelerator in Spain, GreeMko designed a tool to help businesses measure and analyse their emissions as well as their environmental performance. In addition to collecting CO2 emissions data, they also look at the electricity, fuel and water consumption, as well as waste generation of a product, event or project. Their aim is to encourage companies to become more sustainable and better prepare for a market that increasingly demands more environmental transparency.
Created by former vice president of the Unites States, Al Gore, the awards of the Climate Reality Project Europe recognise people, companies and entities that have excelled in the last year in the fight against climate change.
Other winners of the 3rd Edition of the Climate Leaders Awards include:
- Actors Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, Skyfall, Vicky Christina Barcelona) and his brother Carlos, for their public commitment to combating the climate emergency with the movie Sanctuary;
- Swedish European Parliamentarian, Jytte Guteland, rapporteur for the European Climate Law;
- Maria Mendiluce, director of the We Mean Business coalition;
- Sustainable fashion store SKFK which measures and communicates each step of the manufacturing process to its customers
