Interview with Isabella Palmgren, founder and CEO, Mimbly
The EIT Awards recognises the most promising entrepreneurs and innovators in Europe. Seven Climate KIC community members have been nominated for the 2018 edition.
We spoke to Isabella Palmgren, founder and CEO, Mimbly, who’s eligible to win the EIT Women’s Award and the EIT Public Award.
What’s your role?
I’m the CEO and a founder of Mimbly that we started in 2016 in Gothenburg at Chalmers University of Technology. At Mimbly we develop sustainable water solutions and have developed the MimBox which is an add-on recycling device for laundry machines. This project has the big implication areas that are water savings, energy savings and the capturing of microplastics.
What are you working on with Climate KIC?
We are currently part of Climate-KIC’s Accelerator and have been for the last year. With Climate-KIC we focus a lot on spreading the knowledge that we have gathered about environmental problems that we have found. Such as water scarcity, groundwater levels and the spreading of microplastics.
What are the three implications of this work?
Currently, we are working on developing our prototypes to be able to test more outside of our own facilities. This is a development of both hardware and software in combination to bring our prototypes to customers as well as working thoroughly with the business concept and finding future clients and partners.
What or who gives you hope or inspiration in the fight against climate change?
The best thing about running your own company is that you learn new things every day, and working within the sphere of cleantech gives me more motivation. You get to meet so many amazing entrepreneurs, scientists and companies trying to tackle different problems in the world with great and innovative solutions.
All these people inspire me to continue my work with Mimbly and hopefully inspire someone else to start their own business or continue running the business that they have started. I truly believe that you should work together and help each other reach your full potential. But most importantly is to have fun while doing it!
