Mariia Murasheva, Secretary, Climate KIC Alumni Association

The Climate KIC community comprises a rich diversity of expertise, skills and perspectives across our alumni, start-ups, innovation partners, advisors and associates, all of whom contribute to our innovation capacity. This week, we spoke to Mariia Murasheva, who is Secretary of the Board of Climate KIC Alumni Association in 2018 and a participant in the Pioneers into Practice programme, having completed the Climate KIC Journey.
What’s your role?
The main focus of my role is in the internal organisation of CKAA. My duties go from helping organising our presence in different events, to disseminating and organising information within the Board.
What are you working on with Climate KIC?
The Alumni Association work closely with Climate KIC. Members have been participants of educational programmes of Climate-KIC such as the Journey summer school.
Our daily operations include the sharing of information, being present at events of each other and update on the issues connected with both organisations.
At this moment, we are mainly concentrated on organising sessions and a dedicated alumni concept for the Climate Innovation Summit (CIS) in Dublin in November 2018.
What are the three implications of this work?
The alumni network amplifies the work of Climate KIC by taking the skills and mindset out into the working world, helping a prepare a new generation of climate leaders.
What we do helps to increase of awareness of opportunities inside Climate KIC for Alumni Association members. It also helps demonstrate Alumni Association members’ activities and projects at Climate KIC events and supports an exchange of experiences on both personal and organisational levels.
What or who gives you hope or inspiration in the fight against climate change?
I would name both nature and people. Nature, so beautiful and fragile, reminds me constantly that we should be conscious about and responsible for what we do.
It is a cliché, but true: we just have one planet. And people, my colleagues, our alumni, inspire me with their active position and total refusal to stop the fight against climate change despite all the obstacles.
