Woodoo wins award at Cleantech Open Global 2017
Climate-KIC start-up Woodoo wins award at the Cleantech Open Global 2017 for their molecularly enhanced wood material.
Woodoo, finalist in the Climate-KIC venture competition last year, was awarded Runner-up Prize at the Cleantech Open Global 2017, the largest international cleantech start-up competition, in the United States.
The innovative technology created by Woodoo rebuilds the wood cellular matrix to incorporate an additive, making this new material three times more resistant than the original wood, with a minimum risk of degradation. This patented material is even fire and rot resistant.
The primary application of Woodoo’s material is the construction industry, a sector responsible for 2.5B. tons of CO2 emissions in 2016. The design sector could also be interested in its translucent aspect.
Woodoo’s pitch
On Friday February 10th, about thirty high potential international entrepreneurs were competing in California before an American jury from the innovation ecosystem (investors, corporates, experts, etc.).
Competing in the building construction category was Timothée Boitouzet, Woodoo’s CEO. His convincing pitch led him on the podium along with the Japanese start-up Challenergy.
This award confirms Woodoo’s cutting-edge technology and gives them new assets for further developments.
