Using behavioural insight to make energy smarter
SMAP Energy was born after three years of research by Cambridge Energy Data Lab and the University of Cambridge. During this period, the team developed a novel algorithmic technique for quantifying and extracting elements of energy consumer behaviour – including flexibility to shift consumption and predicted response to price incentives – that relied only on standardized elements of smart-meter data collection.
This algorithm – which we have demonstrated across several real-world data sets – unlocked a deep variety of capabilities in providing customer insight to enable strategic action and value-added services. We’ve built the algorithm and our team’s depth of knowledge in energy data analysis into our software as a service (SaaS) product, Smart Meter Analytics Platform (SMAP).
