Harnessing low head water in harmony with the environment.
The Water Engine takes advantage of water courses with a head of between 0.5 and 5m. Initially we will be focussing the technology on the buoyant Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) market renewable energy market in the UK. This tariff will degrade over the course of the next four to five years.
We have completed a 1.5kW demonstrator unit to prove the concept of the technology and we are expecting a planning approval for our first 15kW unit in the Tweed river complex in the Scottish Borders.
With the Scottish Borders project operational, we expect to commercalise the UK business with a view to exploring a potential joint venture to deliver the technology to the international market where the Water Engine can be used as follows:
- Renewable electricity generation
- Pump water for irrigation purposes
- Creation of clean water through reverse osmosis from contaminated and/or salt water
- Generating heat through a unique Combined Heat & Power (CHP) system using a Water Source Heat Pump
